“The Immortal Cop”

With continuing national events including Tulsa, Los Angeles, North Carolina, Minnesota, Baltimore, New York, and Ferguson, statewide events like the passage of Prop 47, and local events like text messages and our coworkers going to prison, there is a fierce urgency of now to address the professional challenges of the 21st Century police officer and the toll it takes on ourselves and on our families. We need to develop the resilience to overcome these emotional drains and develop the courage to look in the mirror and ask: “Where must I be doing better, personally and professionally, in these 4 dimensions of a ‘whole’ person: emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually (commitment to purpose).”

Excerpts from SFPD Blue Courage student reviews:

“You cannot afford to not incorporate this program from a risk management viewpoint, a Department integrity viewpoint, and for the health of our organization’s members.”

“I believe this training will eventually help improve police/community relations. I am going to implement these techniques in my professional and personal life–to help this cynical cop connect the mind and body back to why I chose police work.”

“This training was definitely a breath of fresh air! We have to find a way to get every cop to this course. It was heartening to hear my supervisors talking openly about these concepts.”

“It took me the entire first day to have the courage to open the mirror. It took me the entire second day to have the courage to look in it.”

“The day we can define courage as quickly and easily as we define bravery is the day we’ve made it in law enforcement and in life.”

“Man, I’ve had an ah-ha moment for every section of the class. Blue Courage, thank you. I have hope for our profession again. I only wish I had Blue Courage 20 years ago. Mastery, purpose and autonomy, empathy and compassion. You guys nailed it. I can see a future and it looks good.”

“I needed this training to reset, I needed clarity of my direction in this profession. I feel re-energized…focused…I am reminded of the choices I have. I am re-committed. Thank you for inspiring me and sharing your expertise.”
