How Great Leaders Inspire Action

The Golden Circle can serve as a framework for the above end result.

We use the Golden Circle to explain why  some leaders and organizations inspire greater loyalty and engagement among employees and customers alike.

The three levels of the Golden Circle are really the three levels that all organizations function on.

All individuals in an organization know WHAT they do. Some individuals know HOW they do it, but very few know WHY they do what they do.

The WHY is what inspires us.

When all three levels are aligned, it gives us a filter to make decisions, provides a foundation for innovation, and builds trust.

The key is to start from the inside and work your way outward. START WITH WHY.

BALANCE ACROSS THE GOLDEN CIRCLE – Not one part of the Golden Circle is more important than the others. What is most important is that we start with WHY. The next important thing is Balance of WHY, HOW, AND WHAT.

In order to bring a golden circle to life you need three things;

1. CLARITY OF WHY – Have a clear vision of your purpose, cause or belief.

2. DISCIPLINE OF HOW – Set the values that naturally align with your purpose and culture, and then stick to them.

3. CONSISTENCY OF WHAT – Ensure that the tangible that you create, the relationships you keep, and the things that you say are clearly connected to your why.
