Learn, Share, Grow – Open Your World

Below is a lesson from Heineken on being open to the differences around you, as well as our key learning.

The Blue Courage team is dedicated to continual learning and growth.  We have adopted a concept from Simon Sinek’s Start With Why team called “Learn, Share, Grow”.  We are constantly finding great articles, videos, and readings that have so much learning.  As we learn new and great things, this new knowledge should be shared for everyone to then grow from.

We seem to be so divided as a world. It seems like we can no longer say “agree to disagree.” Too often we accuse people who see the world different from us as being morally bankrupt; And when those accusations are being made, we seem to do it disrespectfully. It should be completely fine for us to disagree, but we should be able to do so respectfully. When we talk about diversity and inclusion, we typically talk about diversity in skin color and gender, but not about ideas. Can two strangers with opposing views prove that there’s more that unites us than divides us?

Key Learnings:

• It may not be as easy as the video displays, but when we start to build a foundation of understanding and respect, we can work towards finding common ground.
• We may have different views and opinions, but we also share many commonalities.
• We are a lot more alike than we are different.
• When we open our minds and our hearts to allow ourselves to respectfully engage in conversations with those that look and think differently than we do, a world of endless possibilities become available to us.
